Response Boxes
1. PST Serial Response Box
The Serial Response Box features a 0 millisecond debounce period. This is something that simply cannot be achieved from a standard keyboard! PST has engineered the Serial Response Box so that the response is time stamped and then the signal is verified for accuracy.
A standard keyboard verifies the accuracy of the signal before the response is time stamped. The problem of variable debounce periods found on keyboards is solved with the Serial Response Box!

The Serial Response Box consists of the following items:
1 Serial Response Box with textured scratch resistant metal case
5 Lamps
5 Sample lamp covers (Red, White, Blue, Green and Yellow)
5 Keys with over 150 customized key labels
1 Voice key with programmable trip level and microphone
1 RS-232 cable with DB-25 connectors
1 DB-9 to DB-25 adapter
1 15V DC Power Supply (100 - 240VAC input)
1 40-pin IDC expansion cable with header (to expand the number of keys and lamps via the expansion port)
Refresh detector circuitry (for use with PST Refresh Detector)
2. PST Custom Expansion Kit
The Custom Expansion Kit allows you the flexibility to create your very own response collection device! The Serial Response Box Custom Expansion Kit enables you to make a custom key and lamp configuration and interface it to the Serial Response Box. With the Custom Expansion Kit you can design your own layout of up to 8 switches for use with E-Prime®, and then connect this layout via the expansion cable to the Serial Response Box circuitry. Any set of switches and lamps can be connected via the expansion cable, but the Custom Expansion Kit combines everything you would need into a single purchase! The Custom Expansion Kit combines the benefits of the Serial Response Box timing circuitry with your own switch and lamp layout.
The Custom Expansion Kit consists of the following items:
Eight drill-mount switches
Eight switch caps
Five lamps
Five lamp lenses
One prototyping board
One Interface cable
Drill bits for switches and lamps
Mounting hardware and case (10" x 8.03" x 2.70")
Instructions for building your own response collection device with the Custom Expansion Kit and the Serial Response Box.
* E-Prime® is only able to expand up to 8 keys. E-Prime® is restricted to only 5 lamp
3. PST Foot Pedals
As an alternative to vocal latency or a key press to collect your subject's response, you may utilize our Foot Pedal. Collect your subject's foot response through a Foot Pedal that connects to the Serial Response Box through the integrated expansion port.
4. Cedrus RB Series Response Pads
The current USB-based, RB-x30 models represent the fourth generation of response pads in this series. All the improvements are based on customer feedback. The result is high quality, ergonomic, and practical response pads that are compatible with all major stimulus presentation packages, including E-Prime, Presentation, and SuperLab.

The RB-530 provides five keys and is ideally suited for experiments involving spatial orientation (as is the RB-834 model). The keys are large and feature removable key tops (except for the center round key). The following photo shows an RB-530 pad with the colored tops (included free) installed. The pad ships also with four clear key tops so you can insert any legend or color paper. When you buy an RB-530, the following items are included:

Wrist pad (see picture on the right)
Four white key tops
Four clear key tops
One red key top
One green key top
One yellow key top
One blue key top
USB cable
The RB-730 provides seven keys laid out in a straight line. The keys are slightly wider than the typical keyboard key and feature removable key tops. The following photo shows an RB-730 pad with the colored tops (included free) installed. The pad ships also with seven clear key tops so you can insert any legend or color paper. When you buy an RB-730, the following items are included:

Seven white key tops
Seven clear key tops
One red key top
One green key top
One yellow key top
One blue key top

The RB-830 was designed to allow eight fingers to rest comfortably and simultaneously on the keys. A lot of care was taken in the design of this model, including the position of the keys and the use of custom-built ergonomic plastic caps. The photo above shows an RB-830 pad with the colored tops (included free) installed. The pad ships also with eight clear key tops so you can insert any legend or color paper. For maximum comfort, we also redesigned the plastic key caps on the RB-830: instead of the flat caps on the previous RB-820 model, the new caps now provide a 7 degree angle that makes it more comfortable for the fingers (see picture on the right). When you buy an RB-830, the following items are included:

The RB-834 features the largest buttons of any response pad on the market. It is ideally suited for experiments involving spatial orientation (as is the RB-530 model) or where it would be helpful if the participants used large keys. The following photo shows an RB-834 pad with the colored tops (included free) installed. The pad ships also with eight clear key tops so you can insert any legend or color paper. When you buy an RB-834, the following items are included:

5. Cedrus SV-1 Voice Key
SV-1 is a device designed specifically for experiments requiring a vocal response. SV-1 monitors the participant's voice level at all times, and when the level rises above a user-specified threshold, it reports this to the computer.

The first such device to be developed for over a decade, SV-1 packs some advanced features such as:
Built-in timer
For example, at the onset of a trial, the computer can reset the timer in SV-1. When SV-1 detects a voice key, it informs the computer and reports the participant's reaction time with a guaranteed accuracy of 1 millisecond.
Advanced Technology
SV-1 is powered by an 18 MHz microprocessor and is a 100% digital device. It uses Cedrus' XID technology which is fully documented.
Controls Lock
Thanks to its digital design, after adjusting the dials to the correct levels you can use the computer to "lock" them. This makes them ineffective and prevents accidental tampering.
Serial and Parallel Ports
SV-1 offers both a serial and a parallel port for maximum connectivity. USB support can be added via an inexpensive USB-serial port adaptor.
Flexible Accessory Connector
The built-in Accessory Connector provides six lines of I/O (input/output). Each line can individually be configured as either input or output.
SV-1 comes with a microphone headset (see picture above) and a one year full warranty which covers all parts and labor. Yes, a battery is included.
6. Cedrus StimTracker
Born to Mark
StimTracker was created with mainly one purpose: sending event markers. And making it trivially easy to do so. So easy, in fact, that StimTracker is born ready to connect to a variety of EEG/ERP recording devices (see sidebar) and a PC's parallel port. You no longer need to worry about incompatible connectors, pin assignments, and custom cables -- it's done for you.

Mark Anything
It is common to send event markers from the stimulus presentation computer to a recording device. StimTracker provides a USB port for this purpose, but it can also handle a complete range of events:
- Up to four lightsensors
- Voice key
- Two audio channels
- Six TTL inputs
The amount of information available to you depends only on how many input lines your equipment can handle.
7. Cedrus Lightsensor
Unable to find a lightsensor that is unobtrusive, easy to mount, and fast, we set out to build our own. After the initial vetting, we put six electronic lightsensors through a rigorous selection process. Then we designed a tiny plastic housing (just 8 by 14 mm) and built the necessary mold. The result? Just peel and attach to the screen.

To make the Cedrus Lightsensor even less distracting to participants, we offer it in black and in white, the two background colors most commonly used in experiments.
8. Geometric and Standard Response Device
Science Plus Group is proud to announce two complete new Response Devices for experimental research. The Response Devices have been developed by Willy Dreckmann of the Department of Psychology of the Ruhr Universität Bochum. They are compatible with E-Prime, Superlab Pro, Presentation or any other software tool used in experimental psychology. They are not valid for experiments that need millisecond timing.
