NEW: E-Prime Extensions for fMRI! Check here...
E-Prime software description
E-Prime is the world's most used software program for experimental psychology. Experiment generation and millisecond precision data collection through data handling and processing are easy to do with E-Prime. The E-Prime suite of applications is very useful for both new and experienced users. The E-Prime system includes E-Studio, E-Basic, E-Run, E-Merge, E-DataAid, and E-Recovery.
E-Studio
With E-Prime's graphical interface it is very easy to create experiments and dragging and dropping objects onto procedural time lines. An experiment is comprised of a series of E-Objects. E-Objects can be Procedure, TextDisplay, ImageDisplay, Slide, List, SoundOut, and FeedbackDisplay. Each E-Object has a set of specific properties and these properties determine the behavior of each object.
E-Basic
E-Basic is the underlying scripting language of E-Prime 2.0. You can easliy compile the graphical representations of experiments prepared in E-Studio, into a complete E-Basic script with only one single mouse click. Next, you also have access to E-Basic with E-Studio. This is really helpful if your E-Prime experiments require a non-standard operation which is not specifically addressed in the graphical interface. Just as E-Objects are graphical representations of the most common experiment operations, an InLine object allows you to insert a piece of your own custom script within the graphical representation of the experiment.
E-Run
As soon as your experiments are ready with E-Studio, you are just one mouse click away from compiling the experiment into an E-Basic script. This is all the code, that you need for running your E-Prime experiment. Once your experiment is compiled, E-Run enables millisecond precision of stimulus presentation, synchronizations and data collection.
E-Merge
E-Prime also has a unique tool for quick and easy combining your single session data files into multi-session data files: E-Merge. E-Merge also keeps a history on each data file. This is particularly useful in order to determine which files have been erged along with the date and location of each data file.
E-DataAid
E-DataAid is a data management utility, specifically for using with E-Prime. It not only offers data security options, but also he ability to filter, edit and export data to external statistical packages.
E-Recovery
For selecting an not-complete E-Run textfile and convert it into an E-Prime data file.

PST Serial Response Box
One very good reason to use the PST Response Box: the box features a 0 millisecond debounce period. This is something that simply cannot be achieved from a standard keyboard! PST has engineered the PST Response Box so that the response is time stamped and then the signal is verified for accuracy.
A standard keyboard verifies the accuracy of the signal before the response is time stamped. The problem of variable debounce periods found on keyboards is solved with the PST Response Box! Best of all, the PST Response Box connects directly to the PC via the serial port! No additional hardware is required.
Refresh Detector System
The PST Response Box includes a Refresh Detector System which is used to determine how many times a second the computer screen is redrawn or refreshed.
Keys
The PST Serial Response Box features 5 keys. Single key presses, key presses and releases as well as n-key rollover responses (e.g., collect information about key responses which overlap in time) are supported. The number of keys can be increased to 8 for use with E-Prime via the integrated expansion port (see the Custom Expansion Kit). The keys can be labeled in accordance with your experiment. Place a label inside the keycaps of the PST Serial Response Box's 5 keys. PST ships 5 sheets of labels with every PST Serial Response Box ordered.
Lamps
The PST Serial Response Box features 5 lamps. A sample of 5 colored lamp covers are also included with the PST Serial Response Box. The lamp covers are easily interchangeable.
Voice Key
The PST Serial Response Box also features an integrated voice key. The voice key allows you to collect vocal latencies with confidence. This is not to be confused with the ability to record actual vocal responses. To record vocal responses we suggest the use of an external recorder. The voice key features both a hardware volume control and sensitivity control via E-Prime.
